Silk vs Satin

Why is the price of Silk and Satin fabrics so different if they look the same?

They might appear similar in photos or at a glance but once you use both you will clearly see and feel the difference.

Silk is a natural fibre produced from silkworms containing proteins and amino acids which gives it a similar structure to human hair. Whereas Satin is just a type of woven fabric that is created to replicate the appearance of Silk but is almost always made from synthetic materials such as polyester and nylon.

Silk is extremely durable and long lasting if taken care of correctly. It is naturally hypo-allergenic, anti-fungal, anti-microbial and is excellent for those who suffer from allergies or have sensitive skin. Silk is also very breathable; it is cool in the heat and warm in the cold. This brings many health benefits for your hair and skin. On the other hand, the plastic fibres in Satin do not provide the same benefits as Silk and can even be harmful to your health.
